What do we do?
Old-School Tree Service and Firewood offers a wide selection of tree maintenence services, including:
- Complete tree removal
- Branch/brush pile chipping (mulching)
- Removing stumps (via grinding machines)
- General post-job clean up
- Tree Trimming, & Pruning
We also sell firewood, which is cut, split, and delivered to your home.
We are a general tree service company, and are not limited to the services listed above. If you have a tree-related job, please reach out to us!
What to expect when we visit you:
Our first visit to your house is usually not to work, it's to assess the size of the job, so we can give you a quote
Once complete, we will come back another day to begin working. (Exactly when is decided by you.)
Our team consists of:
- 1 tree climber (40 years of experience*)
- 1-3 ground crew members
- 1-2 chainsaw operators
- 1 chipper operator
- 1 truck driver
Our second visit, when we do the work, will be quite more eventful.
We will arrive at your house with our trucks, and begin setting up the work area.
This involves, depending on the job, placing the chipper as close to the jobsite as
we can, throwing ropes over the tree, for our climber to use, setting up our chainsaws,
or all of the above.
For tree removal:
Once the climber is up in the tree, they will begin cutting branches off,
and lowering them down to the ground crew. The ground crew will then take the branches
and feed them into the chipper. When the climber is done with the branches, he will
cut the trunk into sections, from the top, down, lowering each "small" piece down to
the ground crew, to be dragged to the side, and be further cut, and loaded onto the truck.
If you want to keep the logs, just ask us, and we will set them aside for you.
For brush pile removal:
Depending on rather unpredictable factors, we may or may not choose to use the chipper,
on these kinds of jobs. Here's what to expect if we do:
Once the chipper is as close to the pile as we can get it, its all hands on deck.
We bring armloads of brush to the machine, and feed them in, being careful not to feed
ourselves in alongside the various sticks and vines.
We will move from pile to pile, until they are all gone, occationally emptying the
truck of fresh mulch, as needed.
